In a year of panic and uncertainty there were lots of highlights to talk about. With the whole country shutting down in March, we really only had 2.5 months of public outings, but thankfully we were able to do some things during that time, and got to eat some pretty good food throughout the year.
We were able to catch two movies Bad Boys for Life, and Onward in theaters before the shut down. Most of all the other movies that were set to be released in 2020 were pushed to 2021, and other sent straight to various streaming services.
- The Croods 2
- Wonder Woman 1983
- Trolls World Tour
- Palm Springs
- Bad Boys for Life
This year my favorite movie was Onward by Pixar, which i didn’t actually know what it was about, but as the movie continued on i was quite giddy. I’ve been secretly been researching dungeons & dragons, listening to podcasts and bought Player’s handbook and dice so as the movie moved along, more and more d&d play style kept evolving throughout the movie.
For movies that got released and i was surprised i never got around to seeing were:
- Bill and Ted Face the Music
Then the ones that i was anticipating for the year, but got pushed into this year:
- Top Gun: Maverick
- James Bond: ‘No Time to Die’
- Black Widow
- Minions: The Rise of Gru
- Ghostbusters: Afterlife
- The King’s Man
Best TV Series
While movies took a bit hit due to covid, television couldn’t have had a better time.
- Westworld – Season 3
- Emily in Paris – Season 1
- Upload – Season 1
- Top Chef: All-Stars L.A. – Season 17
- Mythic Quest: Raven’s Banquet – Season 1
- Star Trek: Lower Decks
The Mandalorian- Season 2
Season 2 of The Mandalorian held up to season one, and drew from the lore of Star Wars to bring up the wow factor. While i enjoyed the cameo of past characters, i was actually a little disappointed by the last episode by the character who showed up at the very end of the show. What i liked most of the Mandalorian was that it was drawing from the original Star Wars content while being able to expand upon it. The last episode felt like it came full circle to bring it back to the movie series, which last year i explained felt very disappointed by. I hope that with season 2 closing up its story line, that season 3 will be able to go back to being an original series.
The best meals we had this year were the ones where we cooked and bbq’d in our backyard on our new Lodge Pre-Seasoned Cast Iron Sportsman’s Grill. From moo ping, to yakitori, yellowtail collar, steaks, and vegetables it was fun to cook with coal again, and really learn how to control and use the fire.
