With all these TV shows coming to an end this year due to a life cycle, poor ratings, or just because the networks don’t want to  pay these people anymore, its good to know that some shows can rise from the dead and make it back on the air. Futurama seems to have played on one of its own plot into reality as Comedy Central has ordered a new season of Futurama to be produced.

Futurama gained life after death a year ago with a few straight to DVD release movies, but even when i watched them it seemed as if they were trying to stretch a normal 25 minutes show into a featured length movie. Somethings just weren’t meant to be translated into 90 minutes of fun. Futurama is best received in its original short concise programming time.

Six years after getting axed by Fox, Futurama is being resurrected on Comedy Central.

A spokesperson for 20th Century Fox Television confirms that the cable net has ordered  26 new episodes of Matt Groening and David X. Cohen’s late, great animated series to air beginning in 2010. The studio cites Futurama‘s “blockbuster” performance on DVD and in reruns on Comedy Central as the reason for its rebirth.
